Gold Star coverage from the 2019 Jordan Road Surfacing BTRDA Rally Series, the Malcolm Wilson Rally
Punching well above the cars weight once again, a great stage time through the 12.5 mile Grizedale - a true drivers stage, in a 50 yr old historic car, not turreted or anything modern, just an 8 valve engine, 4 speed box, Bilsteins & driving talent ! 👏🏻 ... See more
Another amazing result from the little Avenger. 2019 Malcolm Wilson Rally 🏆🥇 11th Overall 1st 2WD 1st BTRDA Silver Star 1st Historic Best Presented Car at Scrutineering Fastest 2WD after Comb and Hobcarton award Very difficult conditions, the little Avenger was great fun to drive, had a small issue in SS7 & worse in SS8 costing us valuable time and a top 10 result O/A which would of been an incredible achievement for the team and car. But most importantly...a huge thank you from Tom Woody and I to everyone who has helped me. Baz Jordan for the loan of his amazing Avenger, James Gratton-smith for building a great car (recognised with the best presented car award), Nigel E Hepburn Ltd for help with logistics and support, Jondel Race Engines for another winning engine, Kielder WT for great power tools, Revolution Wheels for the winning wheels once again, and the 2300 Club John Easson Award for help keeping me rallying this season. Gordon Rob Robinson on the spanner’s & in chase, all at Geoff Jones Motorsport for their help, obviously to Woody for keeping me safe on the notes & the banter and Dad for everything. A very humble post from George. He failed to mention he beat all the 2.5 millington/ XE powered cars, flat shift gearboxes etc as well as beating many modern 4wd cars, all the R2 cars, and lots of the R2’s in the BRC even without a recce, in a 50yr old car, on carbs & dizzy with a 4 speed gearbox, First time in the car ! RHD or LHD, FWD or RWD it doesnt matter to George, a genuine talent, no bullshit just let’s his driving do the talking ! 👏🏻 ... See more

Cambrian Rally, at main Service results ... George & Arwel, leading Silverstar category and 13th O/A ... not bad first time out in a strange car ! Class act 👏🏻
Still fastest 2wd even with no clutch - watch the end, very funny !
Car 13 Unlucky for some: James & Howard Pridmore today on Jack Neal stages, broken bell housing /lost clutch hence retiring while impressing with his speed again. Fastest 2wd again ... even with only 3 cylinders on ss1, repaired for ss2, then no clutch for ss3 ! A true family affair this weekend enjoying the sport as it should be, Great to catch up with old friends/faces again after the winter break. 👍 ... See more
Good news for George !
After my 2019 BRC R2 rally plans had fallen through last minute...it left me without a drive for the Cambrian Rally. Local businessman and BTRDA headline sponsor Baz Jordan has come to the rescue and offered me his car, it’s something I had not even thought about, but on reflection I am really looking forward to and excited by the challenge! Having won the Silverstar last year in a FWD, it would be great to try and do it in a RWD car, proving adaptability. Although the car is an 8 valve historic spec car & may struggle against the more powerful cars, H2 cars run at the front of the rallies, with better condition roads. I love being the underdog in both the Historic and Silverstar categories amongst more powerful cars. It’s Baz’s own beautifully prepared yellow car from 2018 so I’m privileged to have been asked and entrusted with it. Historic rallying got the likes of Marty McCormack and Matt Edwards noticed and now people such as Osian Pryce are giving it a go, so still hope for me yet! Lol. I would like to boast being the youngest historic competitor, but I see Dai Llewellin’s son, Tom is also doing the Historics so seems the Historic drivers are getting even younger! The new Jordan BTRDA Historic Cup seems to be growing in numbers with prize incentives for the winners on each round. Massive thank you to Baz Jordan & his team for stepping forward to help keep me rallying, Jondel Race Engines and Express Steel Panels amongst others for their support with this car. Super excited by the new challenge, haven’t even sat in the car yet so not sure what to expect, I know it will need a different driving style than the R2, I’m sure it will be fun and equally as demanding to get the best out of it, with hopefully plenty of RWD skids along the way! This is not me giving up on modern rallying, far from it...just a tempory change due to circumstances. My final year of Uni with exams & project deadlines making time away for BRC events very difficult. I’m genuinely excited by the challenge of RWD! ... See more
