Possibly the most iconic MK2 Escort rally cars of all time , used by the British rally legend Roger Clark in the 1981 rally season in MCD red colours , then rebuilt into a new LHD shell for 1982 – driven enthusiastically by the 1981 World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen at the end of the Escorts competitive life for a factory driver/Team (1982 season) in the famous Shell Oils colours.
This car is fondly talked about by Ari himself as being “the fastest Escort” he had ever driven . Fully restored using original authentic parts , original DTW built mechanical Lucas Fuel injected BDG/X engine with the original lucas metering unit mounted under side of the side throttle taking its drive from rear of the camshaft and mechanical fuel pump taking drive from the from the front of cam shaft. ZF direct top 5 speed gearbox , Atlas axle , AP brakes alround, Coil over tarmac Bilstein dampers, original period dash & Recaro seats, fully re wired by the original wiring man, wide mag. minilite wheels etc. Not used since its restoration a few years ago !
FEK was driven by two of the most iconic Escort drivers of the period , during 1981 Roger Clark revved his way around the British Forests in true Roger style …window down and big revs . Then in 1982 the newly crowned World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen took the car to another level, driving it to its limit and beyond on several occasions.
